Emily White was born on the 11 Febuary 1913 to Adel and Florence White. She was to be the eldest of ten children. She had four sisters and five brothers who were called Audrey, Florence, Rhoda, Kathlenn, Raymond,John,Roland,Able and Harry. She was to out live all but three. She was to grow up in kirkstall, Morley and Armley.
